WEEPING ASH

Project Scope –

The project involved delivering a substantial side extension and reworking the kitchen and dining areas to create a home tailored to the clients long-term needs. The design aimed to improve accessibility, enhance living, and establish a stronger relationship between the inside and outside.

Overview –

Having recently purchased the property, the client was keen to shape it into their “forever home”. Together, we explored how to expand and adapt the layout so it not only met their immediate lifestyle requirements but would also serve them well for years to come. A key part of this was designing a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors, achieved through a carefully detailed level threshold that enhances both accessibility and useability.

One of the main challenges was the planning process. Due to the scale of the side extension, being 6m, we worked in constant communication with the planning authority, balancing their requirements with the client’s aspirations to ensure approval was secured.

The finished result is a home that feels personal, modern, and enduring. The extension integrates effortlessly with the original structure, while the reconfigured kitchen and dining areas have been transformed into light-filled, connected hub of the home.
